Tom Mollenkopf advises on water policy, strategy and governance. Tom is President and Board Chair of the International Water Association, Deputy Chair of the Victorian Sustainability Fund Committee, and a member of the Australian Water Partnership Expert Review Panel. He also holds directorships with Peninsula Leisure and Dandenong Market.
He has also had a series of executive and CEO roles in the water and environment sector, including as CEO of the Peter Cullen Trust and CEO of the Australian Water Association. Prior to that he was Deputy Executive Director of the International Water Association in London and a General Manager at South East Water in Melbourne. His background is in law, first in private legal practice, then as corporate counsel.
Over recent years he has assisted government, NGO and private sector clients in Australia and globally, leveraging his extensive experience and understanding of the water sector. He was independent reviewer of the national Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) Scheme and has led or contributed to projects covering the WaterMark Scheme, water allocation planning, utility strategy and water quality regulation.
Tom is a former President of Life Saving Victoria and a Director at Western Water, WaterAid Australia, Surf Life Saving Australia and waterAustralia Solutions Ltd. Other industry roles have included: Member, National Water Commission Reference Group; Chair, Water Industry Skills Taskforce; Chair, Smart Approved Water Mark; Chair, Water Industry Super Fund: Member, NHMRC Water Quality Advisory Committee.
In January 2023, Tom was made an Officer in the Order of Australia (AO) for his distinguished service to business, particularly through the essential services industry, and to the community.
