Martijn is a public policy specialist. He applies strategic and economic frameworks to address complex environmental policy challenges.
Over the last 13 years he has worked at the forefront of policy and reform with the Victorian Treasury, the United Nations and local government. For the past 5 years he has led Aither’s Resilience and Adaptation advisory.
He provides decision-makers with the knowledge and confidence to make sound long-term investments and reforms that have a lasting and positive effect on our communities and environment.
Martijn has significant experience across climate change adaptation, emergency management, and natural capital investment and markets. He is adept at helping clients resolve technical complexity, balance difficult trade-offs and manage stakeholders with competing interests.
Martijn understands that successful policies and investments are founded upon clear vision and well-articulated outcomes. Martijn is known for his strategy first approach, helping clients to define their goals and develop a pathway to achieve them. He combines this approach with clear stakeholder engagement and communication and the application of fit-for-purpose economic frameworks and tools.
Martijn is also a member of the NSW Coastal Council where he provides independent economic and strategic advice to the Minister responsible for coastal management and adaptation.
