With a PhD in science and 11+ years’ experience in water policy, project management and leadership roles, Ben has a diverse skillset and an excellent ability to work within and across multi‑disciplinary teams. As a Senior Consultant at Aither, Ben strives to deliver innovate and evidence-based advice to support sound decision-making.
Ben’s strengths lie in his attention to detail, thought leadership, problem-solving and communication skills and his ability to produce high‑quality deliverables.
Prior to joining Aither, Ben had worked for over 17 years across a number environmental science and water policy roles with the South Australian Government. From 2004 to 2010, he was a team leader with the South Australian Research and Development Institute (Aquatic Sciences), where he successfully secured significant project funding and managed diverse research projects relating to the management of rivers, wetlands and pest fish. Then, from 2010 2022, Ben held various policy, science, leadership and project management roles with the South Australian Department for Environment and Water. The roles ranged from leading inter jurisdictional policy projects relating to the review of the Murray Darling Bain Agreement and core elements of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, to managing teams of environmental scientists, and co ordinating multi-disciplinary work programs to integrate and make the Department’s water information much more accessible, useful and used as an evidence-base for sound decision-making.
Ben’s attention to detail, combined with his personable, collaborative, and adaptable approach helps him to engage and create meaningful relationships with colleagues and clients alike. When he is not in the office, Ben enjoys spending time outdoors with family and friends.
