Prof Jeff Camkin is a multi-disciplinary water, natural resources and sustainable development specialist with qualifications in science and natural resources law and 30 years of experience in water, fisheries, and agriculture governance, policy and strategy, resource allocation, stakeholder engagement, research, and education.

He is an experienced water consultant whose clients include Northern Territory Government, International Water Centre, International Centre for IWRM, Fortescue Future Industries, and UNESCO.

His current affiliations include University of Western Australia and Institute for Study and Development Worldwide (Australia); TARH – 100% Água and University of Algarve (Portugal); Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany); the Myanmar Water Academy; and the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage.

Former roles include Sustainability Specialist and Leader of the Australian Centre for Water in Society with CSIRO; Program Leader of Irrigation System Harmonisation with the CRC for Irrigation Futures (CRC IF); policy advisor to ministers for water resources, environment, fisheries and agriculture; water governance advisor to the Premier of Western Australia (WA); manager of water allocation for WA; and manager of commercial and recreational fisheries in both New South Wales and WA.

A Churchill Fellow, Australia Endeavour Executive Fellow, Australian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage Travel Fellow, and CRC IF Travel Fellow, Jeff has observed, advised and consulted on water management in Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Europe, as well as Australia, where he was Global Ambassador, Board Director and Branch President of the Australian Water Association.

Strongly committed to capacity development, Jeff has designed and delivered new water education for participants from 70 countries and is founding Editor-in-Chief of World Water Policy Journal – a platform to support the world’s emerging water leaders and thinkers.
